Why 18 carats gold rolex is reacting with white shirt sleeve leaving black permament stains?

hi, there was one customer in jewellery shop, complaining about 18 carat gold rolex which was reacting with all his shirts and leaving permament black stains.
We repeat it using 18 carat gold ring and we had the same effect.
gold have to be unpolished, but what kind of chemical reaction is creating these permament stains???>
Chemical reactions please , 18 carat gold is 75% gold, rest is copper and zinc.
Washing powder, evaporation etc???
We repeated it with 18 carat gold ring after cleaning and it happened again !
