Found a Rolex?
Loui asked:
A while ago a found what I thought was a fake Rolex watch,it was jammed between some rocks at the beach.Checked around,no-one was searching for a lost watch,I even checked at the police station, nothing. The watch was in pretty bad shape, scratched, dented and in need of a serious clean + repair,I firmly believe it had been washed up from the sea.My local jeweler took a look and said he could give it a patch-up but that it required a specialist to look at it,and that I needed to send it to the Rolex company because it had some sort of number between the lugs (the watch was in bad repair,it couldn’t be made out) and looked authentic to him.
I did this still thourighly convinced it was a fake.Anyway that was quite a while ago,it’s now been sent back to me,cleaned, working and and some of it restored, cofirmed as real.As the number couldn’t be made out the watch couldn’t be returned to the owner (how they know who owns it by the number is beyond me,what if someone simply sold the watch on?) that’s beside the point though,so I now have this gold and diamond watch in my possession.

My question now is what can I do with it?
If the owner can’t be traced and it’s been several months is it legally mine to wear or to sell on at some point,do I need to register it or what?
